An appeal on behalf of all our dogs
We hope you are in good health and that you are all finding some peace in these unsettling and uncertain times. The current situation regarding COVID-19, is causing devastation throughout our wonderful country and the world as a whole, but on a level much closer to home it has made our future look much less predictable.
We are a relatively young rescue of only Six years and as a small team of volunteers we have worked tirelessly to build a safe haven for German Shepherds, a sustainable place that offers rescue and rehabilitation for all German Shepherds with the view to finding them their forever home and providing backup for life.
Over time we have made LUOSKO GSD Rescue more secure by building relationships with supporters, sponsors, businesses and also establishing incomes that we felt where secure. COVID-19 has shook that stability to the core.
We had great plans for 2020 and lots of events and ideas planned but right now many appear to be unachievable dreams. In all honesty the future of LUOSKO GSD Rescue at present is questionable, which is why we felt the need for this appeal for help, and to let all of our supporters know exactly what has happened over the last couple of weeks, our current situation and what we would like to plan for the future.
Please be assured that our amazing volunteers have adapted wonderfully, often with no notice and extra stress, but all the animals are being cared for, cleaned and exercised as they should. Although we do miss our wonderful loyal and committed volunteers.
Thank you for taking the time to read, please stay safe in these unprecedented times.
The LUOSKO Team
Our COVID-19 Timeline
Reduced those on site to staff and regular volunteers only. No new volunteers or volunteer sign up/inductions.
Posters put up re COVID-19, gloves, handwash and masks made available.
Cancelled all home visits. Adoptions/Fostering to continue with restricted access to the centre, staff and volunteers.
All external fundraisers cancelled.
Reduced to permanent staff only on site, following original rota and still carrying out adoptions/foster agreements.
Centre into full lock down, minimal staffing levels, restructure of rota to reduce how many staff members work together, stopped all non essential site visits. Stopped all adoptions/foster agreements appointments until further notice.
Intake closed until further notice, including waiting list (unless requested by RSPCA / Council / Police)
Unfortunately and realistically the COVID-19 crisis could risk the future of LUOSKO GSD Rescue, that is the cold hard truth, the loss of our adoptions and external fundraising events and the vital income that it brings is what is most threatening. The next few months are going to be extremely tough for many people and we all face the uncertainty, but we have never needed your support more than now!
The lack of funds is what will seriously threaten the future of our service and put literally hundreds of dogs at risk, but there are many ways you can help and not all of them involve donating money.

As many of you may be aware, we feed a specific dry food to our dogs where possible, we currently source this food from Fords Feeds in Blythe Bridge (01782 392596) if you wish to either pop in or call them to purchase a bag of Dr Johns Hypoallergenic on our behalf and then they will then kindly add the food to our next weekly order.
We also use Chappie dry food & Butchers tripe tins as well as Butchers normal tinned food.
Help towards vet bills
You could make a payment directly to our vets off our bill. Normally we pride ourselves on keeping vet bills paid up to date, to be able to keep accepting dogs in need, but this situation will change that. If you feel this could maybe be a way you would like to help, making a payment directly over the telephone to to our vets please call us for details as we currently use 2 different vet surgeries, Natwich Vets and Lime Trees vets. We can give you the details of the one we have outstanding bills with or you can make a payment on account of which would be very much appreciated.
Support our facebook online auctions and virtual dog shows, both are fun ways to raise funds for us:
